Hitesh Mehta Eco-Planning and Eco-Design Masterclass

We are excited to announce that we have been able to lure THE leading world authority on Ecolodges - Hitesh Mehta FASLA FRIBA FAAK, to conduct his internationally acclaimed masterclass at the Bentwood Inn. Working with the Maasai communities and conservation NGOs

Hitesh Mehta is a globally acclaimed Landscape Architect, Architect, and Environmental Planner with over 36 years of experience. His work spans five continents and includes award-winning eco-designs and planning projects. A pioneer in sustainable tourism, he has authored several books, including Authentic Ecolodges, and is currently an adjunct professor at Florida International University. The workshop consists of a 1 ½ day theory component, and then 3 ½ days where the participants put into practice what they have learnt in the first 1 ½ days. They will begin with a Site Visit and Mehtaphysical Analysis and then for three days will work on the various stages in the planning and design process. The charette will result in participants putting together a basic Conceptual Master Plan for an Ecolodge as well as an Architectural Floor Plan of an ecolodge guest unit. This Workshop and Charette will provide hands-on training to receptive communities in how to design and build in sensitive and fragile ecosystems.
