This four-day retreat, merging the tranquility of nature with the art of watercolor, has garnered such popularity that a second session has been added. The Bentwood Inn, celebrated for its luxurious ambiance and exceptional service, provides the perfect backdrop for this artistic journey. Renowned for its commitment to sustainability and preservation of the valley, the inn offers an idyllic setting where participants can draw inspiration from the surrounding natural beauty.

Leading the workshop is Andy Evansen, a maestro in the world of watercolor. Since his international recognition in 2005 through American Artist magazine, Evansen has become a beacon in the art community. His role as President of both the Minnesota Watercolor Society and the Plein Air Painters of America (PAPA) illustrates his influence and expertise. Unique in his achievements, Evansen is the only watercolorist to grace the Wild Side Exhibition, a testament to his mastery in capturing the essence of landscapes. His accolades, including the prestigious Bronze Medal of Honor at the American Watercolor Society Exhibition, further attest to his artistic prowess. This workshop, under Evansen's guidance, is not just a learning experience; it is an opportunity to delve into the depths of watercolor artistry.

For the second session, October 22–26, participants will also be joined by special guest artist Caitlin Leline Hatch for an exclusive live watercolor demonstration one evening. A Wisconsin-based artist known for her soulful, impressionistic watercolors, Leline Hatch has spent more than 20 years developing a distinctive approach to capturing animals, figures, and landscapes through light, color, and expressive wet-into-wet technique. Her work has been selected for exhibitions by the American Impressionist Society, National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and Northwest Watercolor Society, where she earned first place in its International Open Exhibition in 2022. Inspired by her life on a dairy farm in Wisconsin's Driftless region, her work finds extraordinary beauty in everyday moments of rural life.

The workshop experience at the Bentwood Inn is a harmonious blend of artistic learning and luxurious comfort. Participants will enjoy four nights of accommodation with daily housekeeping, set against the backdrop of the inn's stunning architecture and natural surroundings. Culinary delights prepared by skilled chefs include daily breakfast, evening hors d'oeuvres, and a special three-course gourmet Bistro Dinner on both the arrival and final nights. To enrich the experience, the retreat includes a half-day wildlife excursion led by expert naturalists, offering a unique opportunity to observe the diverse wildlife active in the area.

Priced per guest participant, single occupancy. Taxes and gratuities included. Opportunity to share rooms with a non-participant guest available at $773 surcharge plus tax and gratuity charge - space is limited. Activity surcharge for non-participant $175 (not including park entrance and guide gratuity)

Payment Terms & Cancellation Policy

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Reservations can be made by calling the Innkeepers at Bentwood Inn at 307-739-1411. All major credit cards are accepted. Deposit is non-refundable within 60 days of the date of arrival. Final payment is due 60 days prior to course start; or if reserving within 60 days full payment will be collected at time of booking. Cancellations made 60 days or less from arrival date, forfeit all monies paid. Fully refundable minus a $350 cancellation fee if >60 days before the event. Non refundable if < 60 days before the event. We highly recommend trip insurance, check with your current insurance provider.
