Why You Need to Take a Ride on the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram

jackson hole tram in winter

Arguably the best lift in North America, the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram is an iconic symbol in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In 2017, it was ranked by CNN as one of the World's Best Ski Lifts! The tram is located within Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and takes passengers up 4,139 vertical feet in just nine minutes. Along the way, guests can experience breathtaking 360-degree views as well as possible wildlife sightings. Whether you’re going backcountry skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer, the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram gives riders access to paradise. Here are some of our favorite things to do once the doors open.

Top 3 Jackson Hole Aerial Tram Activities

1. Hiking

There are so many amazing hiking trails in Jackson Hole, and many are accessible via the tram. The tram takes hikers up 10,927 feet to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain. From here, you’re free to access a vast trail network connecting Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Bridger-Teton National Forest, and Grand Teton National Park - all while avoiding the 4,000+ foot climb to the top. Enjoy your time taking photos and hiking, then catch the tram back down. It runs every 15 minutes during the operating season.

Local Tip: Instead of riding the tram down, hike the Granite Canyon Loop back to Teton Village. This trail travels through mostly open terrain and offers sweeping views of the mountains. Click here for more information.

2. Paragliding

Adrenaline junkies can take a different route down: by paragliding! You’ll soar high above Teton Village and experience the breathtaking beauty of Jackson Hole, the Teton Range, and the Snake River Range from the air. Tandem flights launch every morning from the tram summit, and no experience is necessary. Call (307) 739-2626 for more information.

3. Eat Waffles at Corbet's Cabin

After a vigorous hike or thrilling flight, take part in the delicious tradition of eating waffles atop Rendezvous Peak. Situated in Corbet's Cabin and accessible by the tram, there’s truly no better place to enjoy a waffle. And these aren't just any waffles. These gourmet beauties are made to order with toppings like brown sugar butter, Nutella, peanut butter, and bacon. Yes, we said bacon.

Corbet's Cabin also has a great selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks, and tram souvenirs. Whether you hiked all the way to the top or enjoyed a scenic tram ride up, you can reward yourself with a treat and endless views from the deck.
