Spend an Afternoon at the Wyoming Whiskey DistilleryHistory of Wyoming WhiskeyKirby is a small village with a small population. The roads are gravel, the houses are few, and the nearest city is two and a half hours southeast. It's not the type of place that you would expect to find Wyoming's first premium whiskey. The Mead family first came to Wyoming as ranchers in 1890. In the ensuing 125 years, the family has continued to work raising cattle at their ranches in Spring Gulch and Kirby. Brad and Kate Mead are the founders of Wyoming Whiskey, and Sam Mead has been guiding the distillery since 2014. He is responsible for all of the Wyoming Whiskey products that sit on store shelves today. Take a TourWyoming Whiskey offers guided tours Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Your guide will take you through the working distillery and detail the entire bourbon-making process - from milling to fermentation to distillation. After you visit the aging warehouse, head over to the Whiskey Shop for a chance to buy unique Wyoming Whiskey products and gear.
