How to Enjoy an Afternoon at Jackson Town Square

dinner at restaurant

Whether you have come to Jackson Hole during the winter to ski or in the summer to enjoy the exquisite weather and outdoor activities, you’ll want to make time to visit Jackson Town Square. Located in the center of Jackson, the Town Square offers a beautiful, festive atmosphere with something for everyone. There are shops, restaurants and green spaces, not to mention four of the most famous landmarks in this western town.

Antler Arches?

You might have heard about the antler arches in Jackson, or perhaps seen them in pictures, movies or on TV. If you've ever watched the movie Any Which Way But Loose in which legend Clint Eastwood fights Tank Murdock, you've definitely seen them. Eastwood's fight takes place with the arches and the town square itself as the backdrop.

The first of the iconic structures was built in 1953, followed by three more over the next 10 years. After years of withstanding the weather, and countless photo ops, the landmark arches were recently rebuilt. Each one is made up of about 2,000 shed antlers which were sourced in combination from local Boy Scouts who collected them from the nearby Elk Refuge, and antlers purchased from dealers in the region. The arches stand at each entrance to the Square.

Explore the Shops

Set aside some time for retail therapy while you’re in Jackson Town Square. You'll enjoy perusing its variety of shops featuring handmade goods, art, jewelry, antiques and more. Mangy Moose Emporium is a fun place to visit to pick up something decidedly Jackson. From Sasquatch T-shirts and stuffed animals to sterling silver charms and home décor, you’ll find something to take home from this eclectic store to remind you of your trip out west! JD High Country Outfitters is a one-stop shop for the avid outdoorsman — or woman. Whether you’re into fishing, hunting, shooting, snow sports, hiking or you just want some new clothes, you won't leave this shop empty handed.

Restaurants in Jackson Town Square

You'll surely work up an appetite as you stroll along Broadway and Cache in the historic town of Jackson, so it makes sense to stop for a bite to eat at one of its many restaurants.

Café Genevieve is located in a historic log cabin ½ a block from Town Square. It’s famous for its menu chocked full of items inspired by Southern home-cooked classics. Fuel up with fried chicken and waffles, crawfish boulettes (crawfish cakes), a Wyoming Bison Burger or something lighter, such as a smoked trout salad.

No matter where you visit, pizza always seems to fit the bill. Stop in Pinky G’s Pizzeria, which has been voted Jackson Hole’s favorite pizza for the last 4 years, for a quick slice in between shops or activities. Pinky G’s also features other items on its menu including salads, calzones and stromboli. Just be sure to save room for dessert!
