At 1,078 miles long, this river offers wild rapids as well as calm stretches of water that are just waiting to be explored. Those who are visiting Jackson Hole particularly enjoy taking a Snake River float trip, where rugged mountains, rolling plains, and fascinating wildlife abound. These trips are suitable for guests of all ages and are a wonderful way to experience the beauty of the Wild West, without the risk of getting wet. Just minutes from the Bentwood Inn, a Snake River float trip is a must when you visit Jackson Hole - just don’t forget to bring your camera! Here are some of our favorite ways to explore the Snake.

Sit Back & Relax on a Snake River Float Trip

Barker-Ewing Float Trips

Floating gently through Grand Teton National Park, guests can experience the unique history of Jackson Hole, the geology and ecology of the Snake River environment, and the valley’s fascinating wildlife with Barker-Ewing Float Trips. Their original 10-mile trips run from historic Dead Man’s Bar to Moose Village and cover the most scenic stretch of the Snake River, where guests have spotted everything from wolves and cougars to bison and mule deer. The average trip lasts about 3 hours, which is long enough for an awesome river adventure while still allowing for other fun activities the same day.

SANDS Float Trips

The expert guides at SANDS also offer three scenic rafting trips through Grand Teton National Park and will point out unique wildlife and breathtaking landscapes along the way. Their 13-mile afternoon trip lasts for approximately 3 hours with the option to include a delicious lunch, and their 8-mile morning trip features stunning views of animals along the river banks as well as a scrumptious breakfast. For your comfort, SANDS recommends that guests wear proper footwear like sneakers or sandals, a bathing suit or light cotton clothing, and sunscreen and/or sunglasses.

Solitude Float Trips

Solitude offers Snake River float trips that are both inside Grand Teton National Park as well as just south of the park’s boundary. Their most popular trip is 2 hours long and begins at Deadman’s Bar, then travels on the river through dense forests and open meadows where various waterfowl and majestic bald eagles have been spotted. Their guides will provide life preservers and rain ponchos in the event of a sudden rain shower, and they also recommend wearing casual clothes, soft-soled shoes, and sunscreen.
