“Where is Jackson Hole?” If you’ve never been to Wyoming, this is a great question! Situated between the Teton Mountain Range and the Snake River, Jackson Hole is a destination unlike any other. This breathtaking valley and wilderness area is home to upscale ski resorts, rustic dude ranches, and the National Elk Refuge. It also features the lively main town of Jackson. Whether you’re interested in art, culture, history, or nature, Jackson Hole truly has something for everyone! Here are some things you should know about our beautiful area.
Did you know that Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is the only commercial airport in the country that’s located within a national park? The terminal blends in with its unique surroundings and features exposed wood, fireplaces, and nature photography. Visitors can fly in from 12 major cities on three airlines: United Airlines, Delta Airlines, and American Airlines. With stunning views of the mountains and Grand Teton National Park, landing at this airport is an awe-inspiring start to your trip! Read our blog for details.
Before you travel to Wyoming, it’s important to keep track of the forecast so you know what to pack. Jackson’s busiest season is summertime (particularly in July and August) when warm, sunny days are abundant. Fall months are often unpredictable, with snowstorms arriving as early as mid-October and as late as December. Winter runs from December through mid-April and features frequent snow and frigid temperatures. Luckily, Jackson Hole offers plenty of fun things to do during every season!
Whether you’re planning a romantic couple’s weekend or fun family vacation, Jackson Hole truly has something for everyone. Spend a day shopping in Jackson Town Square, or treat yourself to a relaxing spa treatment. You can even dine at a variety of award-winning restaurants. Don’t forget to stop by the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts. This 78,000 square-foot facility features a gorgeous art gallery and performance theater, and it’s just 10 minutes from our inn!
Jackson Hole is also a mecca for outdoor recreation. Because only 3% of its land can be developed, much of the area is comprised of national parks, wilderness areas, and national forests. In other words, Jackson Hole is a beautiful and protected natural playground! Adventurous travelers can enjoy a myriad of activities including horseback riding, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and more. The list is endless!
